No, because pollen is required for a pollen tube to be created for the sperm cells to move into the ovary and connect with egg cells (the process of fertilization). Because then the one of the pollen's cells will divide, forming two haploid sperm. When the pollen tube reaches the ovule in the ovary, it enters the embryo sac and releases both sperm cells. Then, two fertilizations (also called double-fertilization) take place.

Yes, pollination is only the process of depositing the pollen on the stigma of the plant. The pollen tube then has to germinate and grow down the style in order for the sperm nucleus to fuse with the ovule.

If the pollen is brushed off prior to germination, or the style is damaged, or the ovules

are infertile then fertilization cannot occur - although pollination has.

In many cases if the pollen reaching the stigma of another flower is not compatible, it will not germinate to send its pollen tube to the embryo sac. Hence fertilization will not occur on such pollination.

Of course. Pollination may take place through

  • wind - anemophily
  • bats - chiropterophily
  • snails - Malcophilyetc.

Pollination is the process by which pollen is transferred in the reproduction of plants. Fertilization is the process where the egg and sperm join together to form zygote.

Reproduction without seeds is called what?

Pollination. Pollinating with two plants is Cross Pollination. Pollinating with one plant is called Self Pollination.

How do seeds plants reproduce?

Plants reproduce by pollen grains. There are 2 types of pollination: Cross pollination and Self pollination. They are primarily pollinated by means of wind pollination or insect pollination.

What does a pistil produce?

Pistils form fruits and seeds after pollination and fertilization.

What is the process called when a bee transfers seeds from one plant to the other?

Bees do not transfer seeds, they transfer pollen, and that process is called pollination.

What would happen if you removed the stigma from a flower?

Stigma is very important part of the plant .Stigmas have a sticky top that allows the pollen to stick and pollinate the plant. Without pollination, there would be no seeds.

What is the role of pollination in making of seeds?

Pollination ensures the availability of male gametes for fertilization to form zygote for embryo development inside the ovule, that later on becomes a seed.

Pistils form fruits and seeds after pollination and fertilization.

How do pollinators affect plant growth?

The vegetative growth is reduced on successful pollination and most of the food supply is diverted to form seeds.

What are the steps of pollination?

There are six steps of pollination. The stamen produces pollen and then the pollen is transferred via wind. Ovules develop seeds, flowers form, and fruit develops. The final step is repeating the other five.

Why does spraying insecticides have a adverse effect on flowering plants?

Insects are needed to pollinate many plants. Without pollination, fruit and seeds are not produced.

This will swell to form a fruit?

After pollination, the ovary(s) (technically it's the ovules inside the ovary(s) that swell. This eventually forms the fruit and it's seeds.

How does pollination help?

It allows flowers to have their seeds spreed to new areas.
