Yes! I have used these many times for a Quest pipe repair. The cut on the pipe must be de-burred and not have any sharp edges that might damage the Orings of the Sharkbite fitting. Source: Me, a Master Plumber

They are simple and quick to connect, and can be re-used.
Shark bites were in common usage by 2003 , so were possibly invented just before that.
They are brass body fittings containing an 'O' ring and a serrated steel gripper ( the shark's mouth) at each end. They are excellent for joining different types of water pipe. I use all types of them and the can even join different sizes, -1/2 to 3/4 for instance.
There are several choices, depending on the material you are connecting to and your preference's The newer 'shark-bite' fittings are a good, universal choice because you can go from copper to most any other material. With a 'shark-bite' type solution, the fitting is a compression fitting that slides onto the outside of the pipe & the seal is achieved with an O-ring; so therefore the water-pressure pressing against and expanding the O-ring achieves the seal. Otherwise, the Traditional transition from copper to another material is by using male/female fittings & simple threading them together. Of course w/copper you want to use brass or stainless or something that won't encourage corrosion due to dissimilar metals (which also violates code). -Bruce Davis Sr. Journeyman Plumber, Day & Nite Plumbing, Inc. The quick and easy way is to use a compression "Shark Bite" fitting. It slips onto the copper pipe and creates a tight fit. Then use a threaded or pex flex adapter for your for the connection.Sweat on a male adapter to the copper pipe then just screw on the flex hose. You can also cut the pipe sweat on a tee then use a nipple and male adapter.
