Presuming by went to, you mean graduated and was awarded a Medical degree as an MD.
Yes...once someone has been awarded an earned degree...they have and will maintain having the use, privileges and distinction of that degree. So a lawyer that earns a Juris Doctor (JD) will remain a JD even if he is disbarred, a criminal and incompetent. A Medical Doctor with an MD degree remains a Doctor of Medicine, if he ever has and then loses his license...for any reason too. (And sometimes the reason is physical, or such, even age....that would prevent him, by licensing standards, from working on patientsas a Medical Doctor...yet he remains one and could be a brilliant one).
These professional licenses, like any license only gives the legal ability to work in a field or do something, generally overseen by each State (and it is possible to lose a lisc in one State and become licensed in another).And it's certainly possible to lose a license for failing to pay the annual licensing fees to the State - once again - totally irrelevant to being a well learned Dr or not).
The educational award of the degree is not recinded ever. It is proof of an accomplishment and achievement in knowledge. Some apply it well, others don't.
For example, many MDs work in research, laboratory or scientific settings where they do not need a license as they don't actually practice medicine on people...nor do they care to. Yet they may well be brilliant medcially.
