Unfortunately, the Space Shuttle Program Has Been Retired, and All Remaining Shuttles Converted Into Museum Exhibits. There Are No Longer Any Space Shuttle Launches.
We just watched the space shuttle launch from Largo, Florida. It's 138 miles away and we saw it very well in early twilight.
A space shuttle is a reusable launch and orbital spacecraft. It was designed by NASA for human space flight. The space shuttle takes humans into space. It also can be used to deploy satellites, probes, additions to the space station, and parts used to work on the space station. The space shuttle has also been used to conduct experiments in space.
No. There has never been a double space shuttle launch. The closest NASA ever came to this was scheduled for May of 1986 when 2 planetary probes were to be launched from shuttles in the same week. However, NASA has had 2 space shuttles out on the launch pads at the same time several times. First in late 1985/early 1986, and the last in 2009.
I'm assuming you're talking about Challenger in 1986. Space Shuttle Challenger did not explode. It's right SRB exploded because it's O-ring failed because of the 27 F degree weather on the launch pad. So what could've been done to prevent it? Not launch it.
All Space Shuttles have been launched from the Launch Complex 39 at the Kennedy Space Center, approximately 45 miles east of Orlando Florida.
Discovery is due to be launched 1st November 2010. No flights have been planned after February 2011
The first Indian space shuttle launched by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is called the Reusable Launch Vehicle-Technology Demonstrator (RLV-TD). It was launched on May 23, 2016, as a technology demonstrator for future development of reusable space vehicles.
There has never been a space shuttle mission to Mars. The space shuttle is not designed for planetary trips.
The space shuttle Atlantis launch July 8, 2011 and landed July 21, 2011 on mission STS-135, the last of the space shuttle program. Following that mission Atlantis was prepared for display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex not far from the pads where she had been launched on 33 missions.
No space shuttle has ever been to Jupiter
It has been two shuttle missions that has ended with death. The first one was the space shuttle Challenger, it exploded about 73 seconds from the launch in 1986, and then it was the shuttle Columbia that was torn apart when they entered the earth atmosphere in 2003. All of the crew died in both of the "crashes".
