We live in Arizona and I have a kalanchoe blossfeldiana on the patio, out of the direct sunlight, and it is doing very, very well. I assume I will need to bring it in this winter but for the spring, summer and fall it is an outdoor plant.
Yes, in warm climates- they do not like frost, but my kalanchoe do survive the winters in zone 9. They do not like hot sun either, so provide some shade. I have several varieties, including kalanchoe Blossfeldiana, but maybe some varieties would not thrive.
