The Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) light on a 2008 Dodge Avenger indicates a potential issue with the throttle system, which can affect engine performance and acceleration. Common causes include a faulty throttle body, wiring issues, or problems with the accelerator pedal position sensor. If the light illuminates, it's advisable to have the vehicle scanned for error codes and inspected by a mechanic to identify and resolve the issue to ensure safe operation. Ignoring the warning may lead to reduced engine power or stalling.
In the 2008 Dodge Avenger, the electronic throttle control (ETC) is typically located on the throttle body, which is situated on the intake manifold of the engine. The throttle body is connected to the air intake system and is responsible for regulating airflow into the engine based on signals from the accelerator pedal position sensor. To access the ETC, you may need to remove the air intake duct and other components that obstruct the throttle body.

The throttle position sensor (TPS) on a 2008 Dodge Avenger is located on the throttle body, which is typically found near the intake manifold. It monitors the position of the throttle plate and sends this information to the engine control unit (ECU). To access it, you may need to remove the air intake duct that connects to the throttle body.
The dealership would be a good place to start.
Check your Idle Air Control Motor located under neath the Throttle Position Sensor.
You Can't. Its all one assembly. I thought this could be done, but a dodge mechanic told me otherwise
usually in the middle of the intake hose between air filter box and throttle body a square box with wires attached to it
many modern transmissions are sealed, so they wont have a dipstick; if you cant look it up in the owner's manual, call the dealership to find out for sure
I have a 97 Dodge avenger and it was doing the same thing until when I had to change the IAC Valve it cost $100 but its worth it. it is located behind your throttle body. (Idle Air Control Valve) you can do it on your own, to save $200. or locate the old one remove ti then spra6y it with Carburetor cleaner. Good Luck
