Can the fuel sending unit for a 1999 Chevy Lumina be replaced without replacing the whole fuel pump?

Good luck finding one. From what I have seen unless you can find some off-brand aftermarket piece you will need to replace the entire fuel pump.

The 95 Lumina with a 3.1 engine does not have a temperature sending unit. Instead, the dash temp gauge is controlled by the engine coolant temp sensor. This sensor is located on the driver's side, top of the engine.
