The "internet" is a massive network of networks, globally connecting millions of computers together. The "World Wide Web" is a way of accessing information over the medium of the Internet. So I guess the answer to your question must be yes.

This is a question that would elicit differing and subjective answers. In our modern world, businesses use the web regularly. Many universities rely on the web for students to access information. Students use the web as a way to find resources for homework and projects. So many people use the web on a daily basis for communicating with businesses, colleagues, family, friends and even strangers. There are, however, people out there who do not feel the need for a computer, or for access to the internet to use the web. Still, businesses they deal with probably do use the web.

The world wide web has not been with us forever though. Just a few short decades ago it wasn't even invented. People were still able to communicate, conduct business and meet people. So I guess we didn't really need the world wide web, but now that it's here, I think we'd be a bit lost without it.
