Where as the Cherokee have a more sacret belif that killing a snake is a bad thing. making the gods angry... thus... bringing rain...
According to some old wives tales, yes, if you hang a snake on a fence it will rain. Also, if you do an Indian rain dance in unison with the snake on a fence, a hurricane is said to form.
