For instance strontium 90 is highly radioactive and is similar to calcium and thus gets absorbed into bones and cooks you from the inside out, but if you drink red wine which has strontium 85 it will be absorbed into your bones before the radioactive material, and in school you were taught that alcohol saturates the blood and decreases its amount to absorb oxygen and such and so fourth well it also doubles in that it prevents a large amount of the absorption of other things besides just oxygen so getting blitzed on ale, red wine, vodka and other alcoholic drinks can prevent the radiation absorption and in some cases can help remove radiation, instead of just preventing it.
