No it's all computer controlled. If you have an aftermarket tuner on it then the programing will adjust it to either hold the vanes inside open/closed shorter or longer to create more boost when needed. I don't advise any tuner on the Ford 6.0L you will have problems!! They are also cleanable if the unison ring gets stuck. Hope this helps.
