Yes you can but only if you have not summoned a monster already that turn. You can only summon or set a monster once per turn. You can summon a monster during main phase 1 or main phase 2 Draw phase Standby phase Main phase 1 Battle phase Main phase 2 End phase

No, because the XYZ summon is a Special Summon that can only be performed in your Main Phases.

So if you summon some monsters, and attack with them, then you have to enter main phase 2 before you can perform the XYZ summon. The XYZ monster then cannot attack.

Or you can perform the XYZ summon straight away in main phase 1. That means the XYZ monster can attack, but the material monsters didn't get a chance to.

Yes, Monsters can attack on the same turn they are Normal Summoned and any turns thereafter.

Yes as long as the special summon takes place before or during the battle phase. If you special summon in main phase 2 then that monster can't attack.

Can you activate torrential tribute or bottomless trap hole when you attack a face down monster with high defense?

Torrential Tribute and Bottomless Trap Hole can only be used in response to a monster's summon. Attacking a monster does not summon it (note that if the monster is face down, this is a Flip and not a Flip Summon).

Can you summon a monster in face-up defense position?

A Normal Summon is face-up attack mode, a regular Set is face-down defence mode. You cannot Normal Summon or Flip Summon into face-up defence position unless an effect like Light of Intervention lets/makes you. Unless specified though, a Special Summon can be face-up attack or face-up defence position. However you can't special summon face-down unless an effect lets/makes you.

Does your opponent have to attack a monster you summon with A Hero Emerges?

No, not at all. When the defending player summons a monster after an attack has been declared, a 'replay' occurs. The attacking monster has to choose whether to continue its attack or discontinue it altogether and forfeit its attack that turn. If it continues the attack, it can be against a different target. If the monster was making a direct attack, and a stronger monster was summoned, then the attacker will most likely discontinue his attack. He can't continue as a direct attack, but is not forced to attack the newly summoned monster either.

Can you attack with one monster then tribute him for another monster and then attack with the new one in Yu-Gi-Oh?

Tribute summons are performed in the main phases, as are synchro summons. So if you have an attack phase and attack with one monster, the only way you can use it as tribute for a tribute summon (or send it for a synchro summon) is to enter Main Phase 2. If you do this, then you won't be able to declare an attack with the new monster since you have left the battle phase. The only thing you could do really is use an effect that can Special summon while you are still in the battle phase.

Can you attack than use the monster affect to special summon another monster and attack with that one?

yes. monsters like giant rat or shining angel lets you summon a monster when they are destroyed by battle, so if you are battling and you attack and kill your own shining angel, you can summon another monster and attack with that one.

Can a normal summoned monster attack in the same turn that you also special summon a different monster?

Yes of course. Special summoning never affects what can attack or not, unless specifically stated otherwise. You could normal summon and special summon a monster in main phase 1 and attack with both.

Yu-GI-oh is set summon the same thing as normal summon?

Setting is similar, yet not identical to normal summoning. a normal summon is when you Summon a monster onto the field in face-up attack position, whereas a set is when you normal summon a monster in face-down defense position. When a monster is set, it is not yet considered a summoned monster.

Can you attack in the same turn you tribute summon a monster?

Yes, you can attack with the Tribute Summoned monster unless a card effect tells it not to or it is after the Battle Phase.
