Yes you can be a good parent if your parents abuse you. You can have your spouse help you. You can get parenting books, seek help from a women's group that supports moms, get videos on good parenting and pray. If you get in a hissy fit feeling leave the room and deal with the kid after you take some minutes to cool down. Love and enjoy your kids, don't view them as a liability or expect them to be little adults. Kids are kids and they need to be enjoyed as they are. The time they grow up whizzes by. There are associations that can help you. Look in your community pages in the Yellow Pages telephone book. Or consult a minister near you who can refer you to a good place to give you good guidance.

Do the non custodial parent have to have proof to file child abuse charges on custodial parent?

Generally, the non-custodial parent must have a good reason to make the accusation. Child Protective Services will investigate and determine if there is proof of abuse. If they find no evidence of child abuse the custodial parent may be able to sue for damages if the non-custodial parent was only trying to interfere by submitting untrue accusations. They should proceed carefully. If the non-custodial parent makes the complaint in good faith but no abuse is found there will be no negative consequences for making the complaint.Generally, the non-custodial parent must have a good reason to make the accusation. No. Some people can sadly change their behavior when stressed which is not good or legal, to ever abuse a child.

How can a child's verbal and emotional abuse towards a mother or parent be damaging?

For a parent it is so hurtful to have a child who has resented you or don't respect you at all. Children would react that way either the parent is also verbally or physically abusive as well. O could be if your child felt betrayed of the parents actions, during a divorce or spousal abuse. All actions have a cause, it is better to establish a good relationship with your child while growing up to avoid abuse, resentment even abandonment in your family.

What is considered child abuse by legal definition?

As the mother of two children, abuse can be physical, emotional, or mental. Degrading your child, spanking them, and telling them they can't do anything right all the time are all forms of abuse. Being a good parent means guidance with a gentle hand. Always listening to them and trying to show them the right way to do things. There are so many abused children out there. Let's try to be better examples.

Is spanking a child 3 times abuse?

It could be. The deciding factor is how it was done. If you use a belt or something beyond the flat of your hand and it is hard enough to leave welts/red marks on the child it is abuse. It is better to use another method to discipline a child. Time out is a good way and is not abusive. As a parent you are a role model for the child and need to think of what you are teaching your child when you hit them.
