Another View: There is no rule that prevents you from receiving a CDL license from the state, however, realistically, you may have trouble finding an employer who will offer you employment.
A felony won't stop you from obtaining a CDL. I would, however, recommend you check with prospective employers pertaining to your conviction before doling out the time and money to get one, though. Even though there are companies which will hire people with felonies on their record, not all felony convictions will fly with them.
Having a felony won't stop you from getting a CDL, but you should check with prospective employers beforehand... while it is possible to obtain a CDL job with a felony, there are some convictions which won't fly with employers.
It's possible, yes. If your felony was recent, that'll cause some problems finding employment. Additionally, you won't be able to receive a HAZMAT endorsement, nor will you be able to get a TWIC card permitting you entry into ports or military installations.
It's possible, but it's becoming increasingly difficult. Over-the-road companies often require their drivers to have a HAZMAT endorsement (but not all do), which a felon cannot obtain. On top of this, lots of companies are now requiring their drivers to obtain TWIC cards to get onto military bases and ports, which requires the same background check as obtaining a HAZMAT endorsement does. Local companies typically require experience, and don't train new drivers, so you have to get some time in with an OTR company first.

Unless the felony involved the use of a CMV, you can still get a CDL. The conviction will, however, prevent you from being employed as a CDL driver.

You can get a CDL. But no company is going to hire you with that on your record. While it is possible for someone with a felony to get a CDL job (albeit difficult), drug convictions and violence convictions make you untouchable.

Yes I think ask your friends
It won't be easy.
If you have felony charges pending, or have been convicted of felony charges, then no - when you apply for a hazmat endorsement, you're subject to a TSA background check. You can get a CDL, but not the hazmat endorsement.
