Can you be charged with grand theft auto if you are late with your car payments and they cant find the car to repo it?

I think grand theft - of your own car - would be very unlikely...(if you bought it at a "we tote your note" type of place, on a contract for sale where it is still titled to them..then maybe..but still tough).

All in all now days when you go to a lot and buy a car being tote the note or dealership they have to transfer the title into your name right away or they can be filed on and get a fine and if its in yr name they cannot file grandtheft auto on y just obstruction of a creditor wich i do need to inform you is a felony.... but if you did not get a paper with a copied title of the car showing it in your name they cannot even file for obstruction...they can be the one fined but they can still get your car..
