What do you mean by "older"? The very old and the very young are more susceptible to it. Average adults, under 60, are generally less susceptible.

No. It is bacterial infection and not a virus. The body can become immune to a virus, but not a bacterial infection.

Yes, but you must avoid using antibiotics which support your immune system, but E. coli becomes easily resistent against them. (The solution would be the vaccination.)
