Yes, you can be nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other, but that's rare. Since both conditions are caused by the shape of the eye, they're usually the same.

There is also a condition called astigmatism in which it is possible to be both nearsighted & farsighted in the same eye ... but to the person with this condition vision is just a blur without correction.

I don't know how often this thing happens - i would like to know what others go through when having this problem. I find it awquard to have to focus with a different eye - for different objects at various distances. (for reference: od: +3.00 , os: -1.00 ) Looking forward to hearing more stories on this subject ! I do too. They actually said I had perfect vision for the first 17 years of my life. My eyes just compensated for each other very well. At 18 I went to the Dr. and had an hr exam, I thought something was wrong because it usually takes 10-15 minutes. But my eyes are still in pretty good shape +/- .25 I always thought it was useful especially for sports. Ttran
