Can you be trucking at 18?
Yes, but with severe limitations. If you're looking at driving something like a Class 6 or 7 single axle truck within your home state, you might be able to find a job doing that. If you're looking to get into tractor-trailers, your chances aren't looking so great. To be able to haul commerce interstate, and/or get a hazmat endorsement, you must be 21 years of age. At 18, you could only operate a commercial vehicle within your home state - problem is, local companies don't have the means to train new drivers - they require experience. The only companies which really train new drivers are your major entry level interstate carriers such as Stevens Transport, Swift Transportation, Schneider National, etc. Most of them won't hire anyone under 23, and, even those that do still require you to be 21.

Answer 1 . Because the truck alone is only half the unit, not complete with the trailer.. Answer 2 . Also, because it is based on the t ype of trailer. A "full" trailer has wheels at the front as well as at the rear.. A "simi-trailer" only has wheels at the rear, and its front end is sup…ported by the towing vehicle. ( Full Answer )
How would you describe an 18-wheeler What constitues a rig. Is it truck and trailer tractor and trailer or trailer and rig?
An 18 wheeler consists of a tractor (meaning something that pulls) and a trailer (meaning something that follows.) A semi tractor-trailer rig has a trailer that sits on top of the frame of the tractor on a coupling device called a "fifth wheel." The tractor has ten wheels with two on the front axle …and four on each drive axle in the rear. The trailer has two axles with 4 wheels each. The tractor and trailer together are informally called a rig. Is that what you were after? ( Full Answer )
One that is at least 10 years old and you can carry only liability on. Seriously.

When you're 18 most people finish college and they say they are gonna move out.
You don't need to get a tow truck.. All you need to do is to make an emergency call and any problem that you are facing with your truck will be sorted out there and then.. this emergency service would cost you some dollars (in-game of course) :-) Enjoy Playing....
There are three different difficulty levels. All putting you in a different part of the U.S. In the easiest level, you're at San Francisco. The medium difficulty level puts you in Cincinnati. The hardest puts you in Denver. The trucks you start off are tanker/general purpose rigs.

How do you convert eighteen cubic meters to tons 18 cubic meters refers to the capacity of a dump truck?
It will depend on whether the truck is full of rocks, water, styrofoam, or feathers. Same volume of different substances will have different weights.
i would suppose its because the weight in which they carry must be distributed on 18 wheels instead of 4, 4 wheels would not work Each wheel has a specific load rating as does the axle. The more tires you have hitting the road at a given time helps to reduce the stress on the truck/trailer and the… road. The more wheels a vehical has, the higher (in most cases) the gvwr of the vehical is. ( Full Answer )
An 18-wheeler is traveling on the turnpike at a speed that is 8 miles per hour faster than a rental truck During the same period of time the 18-wheeler travels 220 miles and the rental truck travel?
72 mph HOW FAST IS THE 18-WHEELER GOING?! Well, lets see. Since the rental is slower than the 18-wheeler by 8 mph, we'll add 8 to 72. This gives us 80 mph. so 80 mph is the speed of the 18-wheeler, while the rental is 72 mph.
You get more trucks by going to your objectives screen (keyboard shortcut N) and ordering a new truck or by going to one of used truck dealers which are highlighted on the map by a red D. It goes without saying that you need to have enough money to purchase the truck you want to buy. The truck, when… purchased, will be delivered to your garage. If you have more than one garage, then you get to specify which garage it should be delivered to. ( Full Answer )
Go to your map and make sure that the words "services" and "garages" are filled in. Look for a service station or garage on the map. You can go there. When you get there, you park your truck in an icon that has a wrench and some tools. You shut your truck off, set the parking brake (space), and pres…s "enter" on the keyboard. You can then choose everything you want fixed, then click "okay." Then exit, and you're truck will be like new. ( Full Answer )

It doesn't matter what the trailer type is.. for an 18 wheeler engaged in interstate commerce, and without requiring an overweight permit, the allowed gross weight is 80,000 lbs.
It depends somewhat on what state you are in. In much of thecountry the maximum non overload permit tag limit is 80,000 pounds. In some areas this is reduced, by road limits and bridge capasitys.
A loaded semi at 60 MPH takes around 200 yards to come to a complete stop. For a dump truck, you should expect similar results.
Because that's a part of life. You Have to be 18 so u can vote, drive, etc.
A model truck is 18 point 5 inches long and 7 point 5 inches wide The original truck was 12 feet long How wide was it?
12ft times 12= 144 inches in perspective 144/18.5= x/7.5 so 144 times 7.5= 1080 and divide by 18.5, gives you 58.3783... divide by 12 to go back into feet, and the answer is 4.864
Go to a truck driver training school. They have placement programmes to help you find employment upon graduation. Some companies even offer their own training schools. Swift Transportation, Schneider National, C.R. England, Knight Transportation, and Werner are among the companies which do.
You don't have to go to university - you go to a three to four week long truck driving school.
I believe a truck driving school is typically three weeks. Afterwards, you'll have an additional training period with whatever company hires you on.
On a tractor trailer 18 wheeler semi if there is a directional tire that was mounted wrong cause the truck not to stop correctly in wet road conditions and if tires are not matched correctly?
Assuming you're talking about a directional steer like the Michelin XZA3, mounting it the wrong way will tear up the tire... you'll notice severe cupping, some feather edge wear, the tire going out of round, and the vehicle acting like it has shoddy alignment. You'll still be able to stop the vehicl…e, though. ( Full Answer )
Yes, and I have done exactly that, and in NC, to boot. If you haven't seen it, it's because most companies prefer instead to send another truck to pick up the trailer instead of having the trailer towed, as well as not wanting to pay the additional costs of having the trailer towed with the truck. R…estrictions are present, of course. For example, the tow truck driver must have all necessary endorsements. For example, if a vehicle pulling a tanker full of hazardous chemicals had to be towed, that tow truck driver would need a Hazmat endorsement and a tanker endorsement (in NC, the two endorsements together are an "X" endorsement, although some states show separate "H" and "K" endorsements for hazmat and tanker, respectively. Another thing tow truck drivers in NC need to be wary of is low tonnage roads, particularly in the Raleigh-Durham area. The weight limit on these roads is 6-1/2 tons per axle, and the fines for violations of this are very steep. ( Full Answer )
How can a truck driver get by doing that? Simply by not getting caught, finding out where the police are, and being very careful about how it's entered on their logbook. Woe to them if they do get caught, though..
In order to get a truck you either need to buy it from a private dealer or a certified dealer.
First, you need to decide how you're going to use it, and there are quite a few ways. Then you need to buy the truck and insure it according to DOT's requirements for what you're using it for. You next need interstate authority from DOT--even if you're only going to use it in one city. What DOT co…nsiders "interstate" work is weird: if the product you carry is made in another state, or it'll wind up in another state, you are an interstate carrier. You will then need intrastate authority for all the states you are going to operate in, which will require you to hire an agent in each state. Next, get an International Fuel Tax Authority registration. They'll send you stickers. You'll have to file fuel tax reports on a regular basis--how regular depends on who you are and how much you drive. There are four states you have to pay road-use tax to separately from your IFTA road tax filings: Kentucky, New Mexico, Oregon and New York. If you're going to operate in any of those states you'll need to register and file reports on a regular basis. Next, your driver's license. You will almost certainly need a Class B CDL unless the truck weighs over 26,001 pounds--no, I don't know what the extra pound is for--and then you'll need a Class A CDL. If your truck has air brakes you need an endorsement for them. If you're hauling hazardous materials you need an endorsement for that. And you'll need to take a DOT physical. As you can see, this may not be the business you want to get into. ( Full Answer )
It is best to follow 100 feet or more. This gives you space to react to and avoid debris flying back at your car, and more than enough room to stop in the event of an emergency. Added: While the "10 feet for every 10 MPH of speed rule" is a good guideline, the above answer is a good one for follo…wing a commercial truck or bus. If you get too close to the rear of the truck/bus you move in too close for the driver to see you in his sideview mirrors and you are too close to see anything around the truck. ( Full Answer )
You should be far enough behind that you can see their side-view mirrors. This gives assurance that they, in turn, are able to see you. That's a minimum. Ideally, you would want to remain 200 feet or more behind them, in order to minimize risk of damage to your windshield by rocks picked up from the… road. ( Full Answer )

Is it okay to run an Cummings engine international conventional 18 wheel truck with a broken alternator fan belt?
I wanted to know why the truck did not overheat. Running on I95 for 65 miles at approx 60 mph. As long as the water pump is being powered by another belt it will not overheat. The alternator belt drives the alternator which keeps the battery charged and nothing else. Eventually the battery will l…oose all it's charge and the engine will stop running but a broken alternator belt will not cause it to overheat unless that same belt is driving the water pump. What if the belt is driving the water pump. If the belt that broke is driving the water pump the engine will overheat eventualy. Do you know what the shut down temperature is? ( Full Answer )
If you can find someone who'll hire you and has an insuranceprovider who'll insure you at a rate the dump truck owners doesn'tfind excessive. You can get a CDL with an intrastate-onlyrestriction at 18.
You have eight running gears, and an auxiliary gearbox effectivelyallowing you to split the gears. For the running gears, go to atruck driving school - you're not going to learn how to shift anunsychronized transmission by just reading about it. For the gear splitting, you put the splitter (on the s…ide of thetransmission) to the desired postion (forward to increase theratio, rearward to decrease it), let off the accelerator, pause fora second, then get back on the accelerator. If you don't know whatyou're doing, DO NOT split the bottom gears - you can tear those upvery easily. ( Full Answer )
If it's not a registered farm vehicle, and operated under the criteria of the farm vehicle exemption, it requires a Class A CDL. That doesn't change between states - it's a federal law.
The driver has to make their own judgement in these instances. There isn't one answer applicable to all instances of rain.
Maverick, PAM Transport, US Xpress... several companies are tryingthem out as part of a pilot program to weigh and measure themagainst manual trucks.
I would have to disagree that most look brand new. If you were familiar with the various models and years of production, you'd know whether they were or not. But there'll be a number of reasons why a truck would look brand new. For one, a lot of drivers (particularly owner operators with customized …trucks) place high importance on maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicle. A lot of your major carriers won't run a truck as long as a smaller company which has to make a truck last longer, so they'll receive large quantities of new trucks more often. Also, the paint on a CMV tends to be a bit more durable than what's used for a regular passenger vehicle, which helps a lot with the vehicle's appearance. ( Full Answer )
Either a proprietary Mack 18 speed or an Eaton-Fuller 18 speed.Various models of the Eaton-Fuller were available, from 1600 torqueto 2100 torque.
Most empty tractors with trailer(48-53ft) weigh around 32-33,000 lbs. They are limited to 80,000 lbs. loaded, unless they have special permits.
Progressive and Travelers is the company witch has truck insurance for 18 wheelers. They have the best quotes on the insurance you may find they on the internet and call to this company.
Technically, yes - you can get a CDL with an intrastate-onlyrestriction at 18. However, companies hiring drivers for log trucksare going to want experienced drivers, and many insurance companieswon't insure and 18 year-old, or will do so only at a ridiculousrate.
kinetic energy is mass x velocity, so if there are going the same speed, the 18 wheeler.
