Facts about the exosphere:

  • It is the outermost of the five layers of the atmosphere.
  • It is about 5,500 miles away from earth
  • Its distance is about 500 to 600 km above Earth's surface.
  • It is very thin
  • It is mainly made up of hydrogen and helium, the lightest gases (there is also some carbon dioxide and oxygen).
  • Towards the top, the molecules of the exosphere are so far apart that there is no clear boundary between the exosphere and outer space; some scientists even consider it part of outer space.
  • Some molecules in the exosphere that are traveling fast enough escape into space, while others are pulled back by gravity, but the molecules in the exosphere do not usually collide with each other because it is so low-density.
  • It is the darkest layer of the atmosphere
  • Its temperature ranges from 300-1700 degrees celsius

contains hydrogen and helium

begins at 400 miles and ends at 6,200 miles

gas particles are very far apart

Surely. You touch it all the time. The atmosphere is just the air that surrounds you

and lets you breathe,

Personally, I can't see it. To determine whether or not you can see it, have a look

at the wall of the room where you are right now. The space between your eye and

the wall is completely full of atmosphere, at or near sea-level pressure, so if the air

is visible, you'll see it immediately.

You feel the atmosphere every time the wind blows or you take a breath. You can see the atmosphere, too. Look at something far away, like a mountain. The haziness you see is the atmosphere, which isn't perfectly transparent.

N. It is not possible. The pressure is so low that your body would implode before you even got you first breath of air in.
