Can you breed an English mastiff with a chihuahua if so would the mom have to be the mastiff due to size?

Since they are both of the species Canis Lupus Famililiaris (despite obvious size, and appearance differences) its possible artificially, although its morphologically impossible for it to be achieved naturally due the size of the male Chihuahua and the massive size of the Mastiff. If the female Mastiff was artificially inseminated then she could easily whelp the puppies. As to the appearance i am completely unsure, i am personally trying to get a little just from sheer curiosity. I have a friend with a pure English Mastiff female and another with a pure Male Chihuahua, both are from healthy and temperamentally sound bloodlines so i might make this happen!

The result of breeding an English bulldog and an English mastiff together would just result in a "mutt" type bulldog.
