It all depends where you are flying. If you are flying within the 48 states- yes, no problems. International or Alaska/Hawaii- no. You will get caught in customs for Agricultural Quarantine and will have to surrender your fruit.

You can take fruit on a plane. Where the problem comes is taking it off the plane and into whatever country you are flying into. If you just want to have fruit to eat during your flight, it's no problem.
yes you can take fruit on an airplane as long as you keep it in a sealed ziploc bag until you get in the air, you can also take chips in a ziplo bag and as far as fluids go anything 3 ounces or less can be put in your carry on.

Well, in the literal terms, you can physically bring fruit on a plane. But the real question is 'Can you bring fruit on a plane, and is it legal?'

Well, that depends. If you buy fruit AFTER you have been checked, then yes you can legally bring fruit on a plane.

Also, you can bring unpeeled fruit from "home" on the plane, but the already peeled or eaten food has to be wrapped.

You can bring fruit on a domestic airline flight. However, it must be a whole solid piece of fruit such as an apple or banana. No fruit cups or fruits in liquids are allowed.
