Most hedgehogs are wild in the ground and they come out of the ground in the spring.So if you find them its most likley to be wild.I owned them for 2 or 3 mounths and the mom died i guess so i took them and i kept them and now there free!

Pet stores buy their hedgehogs from incompetent breeders, or incompetently breed the hedgehogs themselves. It is very rare to find a hedgehog in a pet store that hasn't been -
- Improperly bred (inbreeding, breeding poor animals)
This causes a large array of problems, both genetic and behavioral. Your pet will not be healthy nor behaviorally sound.
- Improperly kept
This causes your pets to be unhealthy.
- Improperly handled
This causes your pet to be shy or aggressive.
- Unsocialized
The hedgehog hasn't been socialized at all, and as a result, has reverted back to a wild set of behaviors. They will not make good pets.

∙ 12y agoI have never seen nor heard of one, and to be truthful, it's highly unlikely.
This is because there is a fairly large demand for hedgehogs, and shelters are NOT equipped to take care of exotic pets.
If you area first time hedgehog owner, you do NOT need to start with a rescue. They are often times harder to come around, and not nearly as loving as a hoglet you can bond with.
