An external amp comes stock in the original player that came with the jeep. The external amp is under the back seat, on the driver's side.

In order to do this you'll need to either get a schematic and one may be available from one of the aftermarket repair books such as Haynes or if you want to replace the amp online sites such as Crutchfield have wonderful wiring harnesses that fit with factory for an easy swap out. I recommend you do further research into the Jeep archives in Wiki Answers as this question has been discussed many times before.
