Washington, D.C. is a shall-issue district with concealed weapons permits issued by D.C. Metropolitan Police. All firearms must be registered, and this process acts as a permit to purchase. Individuals cannot possess ammunition without a valid registration of a firearm. Open carry is illegal in D.C

When I lived in Hyattsville, Md I carried a loaded pistol under the car seat.  It wasn’t registered.  This was 1958-1961.  Never had to use it.

yes u can, but you must have a current Concealed Pistol License (CPL) from Washington or another state that Washington recognizes. How do you carry a handgun from state to state?

It depends on what you mean exactly. You can transport an unloaded handgun in your vehicle while you travel as long as the handgun isn't accessible to you. However, if you have a handgun carry permit, you can carry the gun on your person in some states. That said, you can carry a handgun on your person inside your car in some states without a permit. Check out handgunlaw.us for more information about each individual state's laws.
