NO. Colds are caused by a virus.
This is an old wives tale but it has some truth in the fact that if you are very cold your immune system may be compromised and then you will be more susceptible to catching a cold but only if you have been in contact with another person with the virus. Colds & flu are a virus that you have to catch so not wearing socks will not give you a virus but if you are always cold which in turn runs you down then yes you may be more likely to catch something.
Not wearing socks can cause you to feel cold, but common colds are caused by viruses not being cold. See the related question below for more information.
Studies have been done with people sitting with their feet in ice water and they did not have an increase in the incidence of catching the flu or common cold, nor any measured delayed recovery from them if already infected.
No, only a virus causes the flu or a cold. Being indoors is a good way to get sick, from other people passing germs. But, being cold can not cause you to catch a cold.
No. Being cold or cold and wet, etc. does not cause a cold. See the related question for more detail.
I do not recommend these socks. They tend to itch after wearing them for a full day. I think fruit of the loom socks will do the trick. Buy the tube socks.
Alice is wearing plain, white socks.
It's entirely up to you. I wear sandals for most of the year but only wear socks if it's particularly cold.
wearing sweaty socks overnight
It would make you more comfortable if your feet feel cold, otherwise, it would make no difference in the speed of your recovery with or without wearing socks. Studies have been done with people sitting with their feet in ice water and they did not have an increase in the incidence of catching the flu, nor any measured delayed recovery from the flu if already infected.
no.
I did not see anyone in Ireland wearing long S-O-C-K-S when I was there. If they did, it was under their pants, and likely because they were cold. You may be thinking of men wearing tall socks with their kilts. Both the Irish and Scots wear tall socks with traditional dress kilts.

Wearing or not wearing socks is a personal preference based off of your own personal taste and comfort.
I am not for sure which socks you are talking about, but the very colorful, crazy ones everyone is wearing around where I live,
