Yes, but it would take up to four times longer for an experienced mechanic. To do this properly you would need to remove the engine. If you have a manual, you would also have to separate the engine from the transmission so you can separated the clutch from the flywheel. If you truly need a crank, the "crank" doesn't normally go out on it's own. There are almost always other issues that should be checked...rings, bearings, etc. It is also unusual for such a young (2003 model) engine to have crank issues.
The easiest way to perform what you're asking to do would be on a car hoist. You would need to take almost every step that removing the engine would require, but instead of removing the engine, you could "drop" the engine cradle, sometimes called the K-member, while supporting the engine. You could then work on what's called the "bottom end" of the engine.
Lastly,It is safer and easier to work on the engine when it is out of the bay.
yes when the engine is out and upside down
Right on the bottom of the engine just after the fan shroud. You can see it, it is visible without removing anything.
yes, you can.it's simple, all you have to do is just change it without removing the tank because there is more space available under the tank from the engine
the crank shaft is at the very bottom of your engine the quickest way to get to this is by removing the oil pan
Just remove pan and change bearings.
yes i am sure this looks like a daunting task however 75% of engine accesories can be replaced without engine removal.
No, the pump can be changed without dropping or removing the engine.
No
yes, it is very simple. even a child can do it. If you don't know how to do it ask MORCHED He is famous for changing things without removing stuff.
Depends on the type of vehicle you are working on. With an older VW bug the engine must be pulled to change the clutch. On most cars and trucks the technique is to pull the transmission.
not worth changing the crankshaft, better to swap the engine with new or used engine, now if it is the camshaft that is more cost effective.
You have to remove the engine first from the car. Place it on an engine stand and work your way on removing the cranksaft. No way to remove it while the engine is in the car.
