Yes you can! To do it, you need to download a program called Oceanis.
After you download it, install the program. Then you will have to restart your computer. When you open the program, it will ask you to browse for a folder with pictures. Select a folder and then choose the pictures that you want to have on your desktop.
If you choose more than one picture, your computer will play the pictures as a slide show on your desktop. However if you only choose 1 picture, your computer will only show that 1 picture. I personally like having only one picture because it saves battery life and doesn't slow down you computer. This program also has no Viruses, Trojans, or Spyware!

∙ 10y agoWindows 7 Starter only come with one desktop background, and no personalizing settings to allow you to change it. If you still want to change it you will have to use a third "Theme" party software supporting Starter. This is not advised. Starter is limited for a reason.

∙ 12y agoRight-click anywhere on your screen - so long as the mouse pointer isn't over an icon. Select Personalize from the menu that appears. On the new screen that opens, towards the bottom should be a picture of your current background. Click it, and select Browse off the new screen that pops up. Search for the picture you want on your computer and click Ok - then click on Save changes and you're done.
