Check engine codes are generally read with an OBDII reader that connects to a data port under the dash. As far as I know, no cars allow you to check them by pressing buttons on the dash.
the dealership has the codes also depending on which state your in theres Advace auto parts the have a book that has the codes the port to check the codes is under the dash
In the computer. If check engine light is on you can get them by plugging a reader into port under dash,.
Jumping the pin connector on the ECU will allow the check engine light to flash on the dash console. The check engine light will flash repeatedly and show codes.
Above the gas pedal, under the dash, there is 2 wires with clips that you plug together. Check engine light will flash the codes recorded in the ecu.
Then you need to check the wiring between the computer and the dash. Either the computer has failed, or there is a short in the wire.
To check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes stored in the computer, turn the ignition on, then hold down the OFF and WARMER (for digital dash) or OFF and passenger-WARMER buttons (for analog dash) or OFF and "Info ^" buttons (if you have temperature dials) until all of the dash lights come on. The digital display will then show any codes stored. Be prepared to write them down. When it's done, you will probably see "PCM?" at this point use the fan speed up button to select pcm now it should say "PCM CODES" press the fan speed down button to scroll down to "CLEAR PCM CODES" press the fan speed up button and it should say "PCM CODES CLEAR" now turn off the ignition and your good to go.

the headlight flasher is located under the dash next to the OBD plug in (that plug where they check engine codes) on the drivers side..
Take the car to a repair shop and have them read out the failure codes via the OBD2 connector under the dash. The codes will tell you what parts of the system need attention.
It is the Check Engine Light, it means you have had a sensor fault. You should take it somewhere and have the codes dumped. They will tell you what you need.
The plug is under the dash on the passenger side. It should be a green plug just under the carpet..
What you are looking for is the DLC or Data Link Connector which will require an OBD-II reader to retrieve codes from. The location of the DLC is on the driver's side under the dash.
