I had to correct the recent message as it was totally wrong. Downloading CFW on PSP is quick and easy. The person who wrote the answer before must of not downloaded it properly, had some corrupted files, or downloaded a fake CFW. There is a very easy YouTube video on how to download CFW, check-out: ThatAmazingAppleKid, or SEATracers (my account) as I have also created a tutorial. Thanks and hope this helps! :D
Normally, your computer will ask you if you want iTunes to be your default player before actually downloading the program. If iTunes is already downloaded, then I can't answer.
No, it depends what condition your computers in. For example, if your computer has had trouble with a virus before it might not be such a good idea. (P.S. I have downloaded Fred songs before and didn't have any problems.)
The general term for such things is "streaming", meaning that it is played before it is entirely finished downloading. For example, YouTube videos are also streamed to users. In both cases, the files are actually downloaded to your computer in a temporary folder, you just don't need to wait for them to finish downloading before you can watch/listen to them.

You must set up an account with itunes before downloading anything, paid or free.
