Cleaning a catalytic converter to reset an error code is only a temporary solution for a 1999 Grand Am SE. To clean the catalytic converter in this case you would need to gently blow out any build up with an air compressor. You would also need to replace or clean the oxygen sensor as well or the code will not reset.
There is only one catalytic converter on the 99 TL.
You have (4) O2 sensors of the (97 to 99) Two are in front of the CAT. (Catalytic Converter). and the other two are behind the CAT. (Catalytic Converter).
The catalytic converter bolts to the exhaust manifold on the rear of the engine on a 1999 Chrysler Town and Country.
No.
The life of your catalytic converter depends on the condition of the engine and the fuel you're using. If the fuel has the wrong additives, the catalytic converter can become plugged up. If the engine burns oil the oil vapor will build up on the catalytic converter and it can become plugged. Otherwise, if the catalytic converter isn't plugged, don't replace it.
look on the exhaust pipe before and after the catalytic converter
before and after catalytic converter.
It more than likely is the heat shield on top of the converter. It probably has broken loose.
Low catalytic converter efficiency.
probably but it will sure start stinking.
Bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine on your 1999 Mercury Marquis Sensor 1 is before the catalytic converter ( upstream ) Sensor 2 is after the catalytic converter ( downstream )
Bank 1 is the upper oxygen sensor(s) before the catalyst (catalytic converter) bank 2 is the oxygen sensor after the catalyst (catalytic converter)
