That is doubtful. The contacts are probably burned/damaged.

Check your headlight switch. Sometimes the switch goes bad and the dash lights won't light. Replace the switch for the fix.
The headlight switch that has the dash light dimmer knob. The dimmer switch went bad and you can only fix it by getting another headlight switch on most cars. Some though have a separate dimmer switch.
and that didnt fix the problem?
Check the fuses. If they are good then you will have to replace the headlight switch.
More that likely the headlight switch is bad. Turn your headlights on and when they start to flicker tap on the headlight switch real fast. If they flicker to you tapping on the switch, that's the problem. They had problems with that switch around that year. It's a pretty cheap fix and you can do it your self quickly. Can also be a sign of a failing alternator.
Take it apart and clean it. If that does not fix it then replace it.
Change the headlight switch. If the switch fails to fix the problem, you may want to pull the headlamps out and check the connection at the back. Lastly, inspect the complete headlight wiring harness for missing insulation, exposed or frayed wires, or loose firewall connection.
You likey have a bad headlight switch or a crossed wire.
First check bulb, if good, must be in the switch. Bad contact. Open it up and clean the contacts. The headlight circuit on these bikes goes through the starter switch as well. If part of that switch goes bad the headlight will not work.
the headlight switch is bad buy a new one it would fix your problem..
