Yes of course, just-

1. Copy the I.P. address from a server listing website.
2. Click "Multiplayer" then
3. "Add server" enter the name you wish and the I.P. address you copied.

It should bring you back to your server list, there it should display the server with their title and player amount. If it displays a red X on the connection strength either that server is offline or your I.P. address is not correct. Typically if the I.P. address is incorrect then the X will appear faster then if the server is just offline.
