No. A cell can only hold one formula. However, a complex formula can be a combination of smaller formulas. Often when trying to do a complex formula, a designer will do the smaller parts of the formula as individual formulas in separate cells. As these individual parts are got to work, they can then be combined into one larger formula in one cell. This is also a good method of doing a complicated formula. It can be difficult to do a complex formula in one go and it can be easier to see the problems when it is initially done as separate formulas.

Formulas in the cells in the worksheet.
Cells are the fundamental element of a worksheet. All formulas are put into them. Most functions and formulas will reference cells on the worksheet. So cells are extremely important in Excel. Without them, you do not have a worksheet.
There are no column formulas in Excel. Only formulas you put in individual cells. The closest thing to a column formula would be VLOOKUP.
In order to do formulas that use values in cells, you need to be able to refer to those cells in the formulas. That is what a cell reference does. You can then create formulas that can be copied quickly and be used for any values that may appear in the cells. As much as possible cell references, rather than values, should be used in formulas.
Excel continually reviews the workbook for errors in formulas as you create or manipulate it

Yes. Many formulas will include cells that are empty.
The formulas version shows the formulas in the cells that has them. Cells that just have values are shown with those values. Column widths automatically become wider in the formulas version so that the formulas can be seen.
