I would assume that it would pertain to whatever the laws read. If it's about some sort of debt/loan/ etc... well, those things would fall under more of a 'civil' type of legal and should it pertain to some sort of default on such then there would be legal things that a debt collector could do to try to recover the money but still, it would be a civil matter NOT a criminal matter so there would be no jailtime for default on a debt. I'm just using debt as an example and I am NOT an attorney so you'd be better off to consult one who specializes in whatever kind of legal matter it is you are wondering about. Laws abound all over this country and they are actually quite interesting to learn about...and stay within too, lol! Best wishes to you and whatever has caused you to pose your question.
