Yes!! This is a very rare trait, but it happened to Lydia Fairchild. It starts in the mother's womb when two fertilized eggs fuse, also known as chimera. Its an odd sort of twin, and you cannot visibly see the twin at all. If the fusion didn't happen the result would be fraternal twins. Basically a person who has two DNA strands is their own twin!

Yes it is possible. the name of the condition is known as chimera, which is the Greek word for part goat-part lion-part snake. An article of this, explaining the genetic possibility and other questions are dealt with there

I am not certain what it is that you are asking.

The two strands of DNA that are a part of the double helix are not the same; they are complementary. Each purine is matched with a pyrimidine (A to T, G to C).

Each cell of one individual (with few exceptions) contains the same DNA, all 46 chromosomes worth, but different genes are active depending on what type of cell it is. Your skin does not use the gene that codes for amylase, an enzyme found in saliva, even though somewhere in the nucleus of a skin cell that same gene can be found.

Some 90+% or so of human DNA is the same between members of the same species, but in a single human body--We have two copies of each chromosome, two copies of every gene, and it is possible to have two copies of the same allele. The likelihood of this is not something I am prepared to preach about; however, I am certain that it varies depending on what gene you're looking at (and even what you define as a gene...).

For instance, to have type A blood, you would have either two copies of the "A" gene, or "A" and "O." "O" is recessive and is not expressed in the presence of a different allele. The former is a case in which some of the DNA may be the same, as the cistron produces the same type of protein. But this is only a possibility. Because there are often several different combinations that code for a single amino acid, there is more than one way to produce the same protein. So, even in this instance the DNA may not be "the same."

All this is dependent, of course, on what was intended by the question.

What does semi conservative mean regard to DNA replication?

replicated DNA is made of one old strand and one new strand.

Can DNA be described as conservation?

DNA replication is semi-conservative. This means that each new DNA molecule has one original strand of DNA and one new strand of DNA.

What is the new strand called in Dna replication?

semiconservative replication - original DNA double strand will unwind into 2 strands, so one original strand will serve as a template for synthesizing a new complementary strand , thus forming a new DNA (one with old strand and one with a new strand)

What happens when DNA replicates semiconservatively?

This means that the new double-strand will have one strand of the original DNA and one new strand. This is known as semi-conservative because one strand is conserved (not replaced).

What is the semi-conservative process?

Semi-conservative DNA replication means that the DNA molecule that results contains one original strand of DNA and one new strand of DNA.

During dna replication each double helix produced consists of?

one parent strand and one new strand of DNA.

Is The lagging strand the strands of parental DNA?

which statement about dna replication is correct? A. the leading strand is one of the strands of parnetal Dna b. the leading strand is built continuously, and the lagging strand is built in pieces c. the lagging strand is one of the strands of parental Dna d. Dna ligase helps assemble the leading strand e. the lagging strand is built continuously

What is the strand?

The template strand, if reffering to DNA, is the strand of the DNA that is copied to make more DNA.

What is the complementary section on the other strand of DNA if one strand is CTAGAAC?

GATCTTG

If one strand of DNA has the sequence atgtc what will the sequence of the second strand be?

tacag

DNA replication is semi-conservative. What does this mean?

When DNA is replicated, the new double-strand contains one old strand and one new strand. This means that one of the old strands has been conserved, making DNA replication semi-conservative.

Why can you predict the base sequences and a DNA molecule of DNA if you know the sequence of the other strand?

You can predict the base seqences of a DNA molecule if you know what one strand is, because of double Stranded DNA. Each strand matches up with a letter and repeats a pattern throught the entire DNA strand.
