both must be tt (novanet)

To a limited extent. You need to know what traits are dominant; you can then use that to detemine whether a plant has at least one copy of that gene. I don't know much about pea plants, horses are my thing, so bear with me as I try to explain.

You have a gray horse. Gray is caused by the G gene. It is a dominant trait; if the horse is GG or Gg, it will be gray. However, if the horse is gg, it will not be gray. Therefore, if my horse is gray, it must be GG or Gg; if it is not, it must be gg.

Same thing with black. If my horse has black on its body, it must be EE or Ee. If it does not, it must be ee.

You can help determine genotype through knowledge of ancestors and offspring; but you cannot totally determine a genotype via the phenotype.

Is it possible to determine the genotype of a plant with a dominant phenotype the trait?

NO, because a dominant phenotype could either be homozygous or a heterozygous.so unless you are sure about the genotype of parents we can't determine it...but we can determine the genotype of a person showing reccessive phenotype, as a recessive trait always expresses itself in a homozygous condition..Read more: Is_it_possible_to_determine_the_genotype_of_a_person_showing_a_dominant_phenotype

What suggest that a plant with the genotype Tt will display a tall phenotype?

Are phenotype and genotype traits the same?

Phenotype and genotype traits don't always have to be the same. Phenotype is the physical characteristics and genotype is the genetic makeup. For example a pea plant can have the genotype of TT and look tall while another plant can have a genotype of Tt and also look tall (T= dominant trait; t= recessive trait.)

What is the genotype of the purple plant?

The genotype for a purple plant would be 'PP.' This will depend on whether both parents showed that phenotype, but purple is generally dominant.

Using the word genotype in a sentence?

The plant's genotype gave it a tall phenotype even though its alleles were heterozygous. Add an I and can and chagne the "?" to a ".".

How do you identify the genotype?

normal sexual cross pollination - each parent plant contributes traits from its genotype (which are expressed as the phenotype)
