People with Parkinson's disease can have long productive lives after the onset of symptoms. Unfortunately, for some people the conditions can progress to death over months or years or decades.
Parkinson's is degenerative and effects motor and muscular functions. It is usually long term but eventually the lungs will be affected in a way that the person can no longer sustain breathing on their own. The person can be kept alive with breathing machines.
