YES YOU CAN! the infection can spread to your blood stream and travel into other areas of your body causing fever, vomiting and can go into a limb and cause amputation. At worst it can spread into your brain and you could slip into a coma. I had this friend who got hit by a car and they took his leg off but it got infected and they couldn't stop it so it went to his brain and he died from a coma because he had to be removed from life support. Sorry to scare you! :)
