No. All scooter or moped operators must have a valid driver's license; for a car if 49cc or less, for a small motorcycle if 50cc to 150cc, and for a large motorcycle if larger than 150cc. All mopeds/scooters must be registered with the state, you must have plates, and you must have insurance.
Typically, you would need to be 16 years old, and obtain a drivers license in order to drive a motor scooter on city streets. But, to be sure contact your local driving center to see what is acceptable.
If you mean to drive a scooter on public streets the age does not matter, what you must have is a regular drivers license for an automobile. If the scooter's engine is over 49cc then you must also have a motorcycle license in CT. Check your states MVB's rules online.
If the scooter is motorized and used on public streets/roads/highways, it must have a license plate and the driver should have a driver's license to operate the scooter.
If they are lawful to be operated on the public streets and roadways, yes.
Electric kick scooters do not generally require a license but you should always check the local laws in your area before riding an electric scooter on public streets. Motor scooters on the other hand typically require a valid driver's license and possibly a motorcycle endorsement depending on how powerful the motor is.
After reading this link: http://www.kscourts.org/ksag/opinions/2001/2001-039.htm It appears to be saying that every person operating a motorized vehicle is required to have a valid drivers license. It also appears to say that any scooter counts as a motorized vehicle and must be registered to be ridden on KS highways (streets)
It is illegal on the streets, but if you are riding in a designated spot than a drivers license will work.
No. Not a "scooter". A goped, yes, so long as you were a bike helmet, ride on streets with no more than a posted 25mph speed limit or on bike paths. A 50cc moped requires a m2 license and a "scooter" under 150cc's can't be taken on the highway and needs a m1 license. Search for California Vehicle Code (CVC) and you can read all about it, and print it up to wave in a cops face if they give you problems. -Ryan
In my state of CT to drive any vehicle on its public streets a driver must have a valid drivers license. If person with a DWI conviction has not had his license suspended, then he may operate any motor vehicle.
That would depend upon the local Department of Motor Vehicle's rules as they vary from state to state as the definition of a Moped and Scooter. Im the state of South Carolina, there is no license requirement, just an age restriction. They are allowed only on surface streets and must obey all the laws of a regular vehicle. They are illegal to drive on the highway or interstate.
A Commercial drivers licence is the licence to drive any heavy weight vehicle. You do not need a parent in the vehicle with you when you drive on the streets. Although, you do need a parent present when you get your licence, and they have to sign the papers.
Legally, the answer will depend on your local laws. Ask your local police or a lawyer. Notes: 1. The laws in some areas permit the legal operation of motor bikes with engine displacement of 50 cc or less on public streets (without a license)--other areas don't permit such use. 2. Many areas permit legal use of such bikes on private property and no license is required as long as the bike is used only on the private property.
