You mean in a car or other road vehicle? It depends on what's wrong with it. Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't.
Possible bad motor mount
If it literally "jumps", it's a bad motormount.
No fluid bad clutches in the transmission bad or broken linkage no driveline motor not running
if its a rear wheel drive you could have a u-joint going out.front wheel drive a drive axle going out one of your motor mounts are bad replace it....
If you have worn rings, the motor is already hurt. If the bearings are as bad as the rings, catastrophic failure is right around the corner.
nothing the engine is solid mounted. if your talking about your stern drive wont go up or down the pump motor could be bad or you may have a blown fuze or a bad wire some where.
You've probably got a bad motor mount. In drive the engine and trans twist in an opposite direction from when in reverse. In drive, you get an unwanted electrical connection (like Battery+ to Battery-) somewhere near the starter or the alternator or a sensor or ignition coil causing the stall. Replace any bad motor mounts and you should be OK.
Depending on how bad the mount is. It may be safe but should be replaced as soon as possible to prevent any damage to the moving parts on the engine.
Bad blower motor fuse? Bad blower motor resistor pack? Bad blower motor - checck to see if it is getting power--if so bad motor Bad switch?
Bad motor mounts and needs a tune up probably
The car needs a tune-up, or the motor mount(s) are bad.
It sounds like one of two problems, Either the belt is off, (if belt drive) Or the motor is locked up or not starting, To test this UNPLUG THE UNIT, and use your hand to see if the motor will turn, If not find out why not,,, If it will then the motor is bad or the start capacitor is bad.
