Raw foods, especially from animals, have fallen out of favor in the U.S. since WWII. This change in American 'tastes' follow the shift from family farms to industrialized agriculture. Industrially farmed animal products are often not healthy enough to eat raw (and so I'd rather not eat them at all).

Raw fish (like sushi), poultry (such as goose pate), and meats - along with 'fresh squeezed' milk and cream - are eaten daily in other FIRST WORLD countries.

Sadly, with industrial farming even our vegatables are not safe to eat raw (and many are loaded with chemicals that cooking does not remove).

You can but shouldn't. Cooking makes it safer by killing any possible bacterias.

I disagree with the first answer (above).

You should not eat raw meat you buy at the grocery store that is not processed for raw consumption. Especially poultry and ground meats are to be avoided as the danger of bacterial contamination and food poisoning is high. Nor do I recommend eating raw meat you prepare yourself.

But raw beef is served as high class cuisine in many restaurants, and if you go to a reputable place you can eat raw meat, just be prepared, as it is pricey.

Beef carpaccio, Tartare, tataki, blue rare steak are common ways of serving expensive cuts of steak raw or sometimes venison

As well seafood sushi often served raw fish.

Traditional Inuit groups in Northern Canada used to eat raw organs as cooking required fuel and heat, and raw organs contained necessary vitamins, as well as being easier to digest.

You shouldn't eat any meat raw. Eating any raw meat will provide a better chance of consuming dangerous bacteria, such as E. Coli. Always cook your meat. When you go into a restaurant that serves beef, there is always a warning at the bottom of the menu that states eating undercooked meat presents a possible hazard to your health.
