Yes. Prince William himself once did it as a practical joke. i recommend cooking first.. and killing it before that.

You can cut a carrot slice into the right shape and cleverly pull it out of the goldfish bowl and eat it before anyone gets a good look. I suspect that's what Prince William did.
If it looks healthy, tastes nom nom, then go ahead!
