Yes, in minimal quantities. Hemoglobin requires iron to bind oxygen to itself which is then transported via your circulatory system. However, you cannot ingest large amounts of solid iron (eg rock). Obtain iron from meat products such as red meat, veel etc.

There are a lot of different things that can happen if you overdose on iron. You could experience fluid in the lungs, loss of skin color, headache, fever, liver damage, vomiting blood, low blood pressure, and shock.

Yes. It is quite easy to overdose on iron - called iron poisoning or iron toxicity - so use of iron supplements is strongly advised against unless you actually need them.
