If you look through your dad's personal papers, an award of the Bronze Star Medal would have been accompanied by a Citation Certificate. If you can't find it, look at his discharge. There is a section there saying Awards and Decorations. If Bronze Star is there, take that, along with your dad (or you- with proof of your kinship), to a Veteran Service Officer at a federal building (some county offices have them,too) and they will help you.
