No, so far I have found out without good credit no student loans are available. Except for the federal stafford loans. RMAK Adds

Although it is true that it is much easier to find student loans with good interest rates if you have a great credit rating, but even if you have a bad credit rating you don't need to panic and give up your hopes. There are loans that cater for bad credit students other than stafford loans. see link below to get details

There are not many places where you can get a loan with bad credit. You can try your local credit union to get a 2,500 loan with a 2 year plan. You may need a cosigner for the loan.

If you have bed credit, sometimes having a cosigner is the only way you can get an auto loan. The people who lend you the money so you can purchase the car want their money back with interest. If you have bad credit, they may think you will not pay them back. They may think your cosigner does not want his credit ruined and will pay them back. So, while they would not give you an auto loan, they would give you an auto loan with a cosigner who has good credit.

Some countries provide government student loans to any student that needs one (provided you are a citizen of course) regardless of your credit rating; you are of legal age to sign a contract, so you do not need a cosigner. The only requirement is that you are enrolled in an accredited university or other tertiary education institute.

Not knowing the loan is needed for, a site that might supply helpful information is: http://www.finaid.org (menu selection "other type of aid").

The creditor will seek repayment of the car loan from the cosigner. As long as the cosigner pays, their credit will not be affected. However, if they are unable or unwilling to pay, the debt will be pursued like any other bad debt, and it will affect their credit rating.

If you have been looking for ways to pay for college, you have probably thought about taking out a few student loans. However, you might have found that a lot of student loans require that you have either a high credit score or a cosigner. If you don't have credit or if your credit is bad and if you don't know anyone who is willing to cosign with you for a student loan, you might be unsure of if you will ever be able to pay for college. Fortunately, there are ways to get student loans without a cosigner. First of all, you should consider talking to a financial aid adviser about taking out a federal student loan. Federal student loans allow students to borrow money for school without a cosigner, and they do not even look at your credit score, which means you will still qualify if you have bad credit or if you don't have credit at all. Along with applying for student loans, you can also apply for federal grants. Just like loans, these grants will provide you with the money that you need to pay for college, but you won't have to worry about paying them back in the future. Secondly, you could consider working on your credit score so that you won't need a cosigner in order to get a student loan. Although you might think it will be impossible to boost your credit score, it might be easier than you think. By getting a cell phone or cable bill in your name and paying it on time or getting a credit card and using and paying for it responsibly, you can boost your credit score, and this can help you qualify for student loans without the need for a cosigner. Lastly, you can consider looking for student loans that will allow students with bad credit to apply, even without a cosigner. Although this might be more difficult, a little patience might help you find a lender who is actually willing to give you a chance.

In the USA, if the student loan is Federal like a Stafford or Perkins loan, then yes you can cosign with bad credit. If the student loan is a private student loan, then no, you must have good credit. Keep in mind, you should never take out private student loans out until you have used up Federal loans, grants, and scholarships. Private student loans have high interest rates and no benefits.

The best place to apply for a student loan is through a company that services federal student loans. Otherwise, a few companies that specialize in student loans for those with bad credit include Education Connection and Better Loan Choice.

Getting a home loan with bad credit is hard yet not impossible. Showing you are a responsible in paying off current debt could help. It is best to find a cosigner with good credit to seal the deal.

User Avatar

Most likely the loan company won't accept it because to need a cosigner on a loan means that there is bad credit all ready. Two bad credit reports don't equal one good one. If you have bad credit it isn't a good idea anyway because you could end up with the loan and this will impact your credit report in a negative way.
