yes
It would be pointless to keep the charger unless you have a second DS Lite with which to use it. The DS series have different types of chargers for each individual DS, so a DS Lite charger would not work with a DSi.
A search with several sites reveal that there are only PORTABLE Nintendo DS battery chargers available.
yes.
Yes, Nintendo makes car chargers for the Nintendo DS, as well as several 3rd party companies. For a complete accessory package, check out the Nintendo DS - Accessory Bundle - 17 in 1 Bundle Pak.
All DS chargers will likely cost you around $15 to $20 if you are an american.

Yes, the original DS and the DS lite are 100% compatible with games. The only difference between the two is they both need different battery chargers.
Well, I am in China and plugged my DS lite that I bought in America. I also bought a DS charger here in China (and I also have my own charger that came with the DS lite). I don't know if the chargers are broken or not (because I'm having problems charging my DS) but.... Answer: My DS lite is still turning on but I have yet to see if the chargers are broken since I can not charge my DS. So, no, not both are ruined.
No. The DS lite charger is much smaller than the SP charger.
You can charge the Nintendo DS with a Game Boy Advance SP charger (& vice versa) if you have the original version of the DS, the 'Phat' version. Otherwise, the DS Lite, DSi, and 3DS all have their own unique chargers. Each one is different, so you'll need a separate charger for each. (unless you buy an unofficial charger with lots of ends)
