It's actually a myth that you can only get pregnant one day a month. You are at your most firtile right before your period when you are ovulating. Your period is a shedding of protective tissue that is built up through the month to protect a fertilized egg. When it isn't fertilized it sheds causing your period. If that's the last time you had sex your probably going to at the very least spot since the hormones needed to stop menstruation will not have developed yet. This totally doesn't mean your pregnant there is always a risk but plenty of people make a mistake once and don't end up with babies! Im pretty sure you can test in a week or two. Home preg tests are notorious for false negatives. Planned Parenthood will do a preg test for free or very cheap.
Take an early response test.
I found out 6 days before my missed period with a 5 day sooner pregnancy test. I would wait atleast until the 6th or 5th day before your missed period. Or with a normal test they day before or of your missed period. :)
An early pregnancy test or 'e.p.t.' as it's often referred to, can be used as soon as you miss your period and any day thereafter. If you prefer to test early, an e.p.t.can be used as soon as four days before you expect your period to start. If you test early and get a "not pregnant" result, there is still a chance that you may be pregnant. However, some pregnant women may not have detectable amounts of pregnancy hormone in their urine on the first day of the missed period or may have miscalculated the first day of their period. If you are testing before you expect your period to start, it is recommended that you test with your first urine of the day. Otherwise you can test at any time of the day. Avoid excess fluid intake before testing.
A pregnancy test (available from most supermarkets and pharmacists) should indicate whether you're pregnant regardless of how close/far you are from your period.
You can take a test the day after you miss a period
some test say a day before you missed period! but with both my children i was about a month pregnant when the test turned up positive!
You cannot get pregnant on the day before your period starts. Your period is actually the unfertilized ovule and the uterus lining falling out of your body, which means you are not pregnant. Ovulation (fertile time) usually happens 14 days before your period, and lasts two or three days. You can get a positive result on a pregnancy test a week after fecundation, but the more time passes the more accurate the result will be.
