I am not a massage therapist, but I own the finest day spa in my area. Physicians mandate that massage not be administered during the first trimester of pregnancy. Thereafter, massage is both permissible and beneficial. However, you need to check with you own personal physician before engaging in this or any other questionable activity thorughout your pregnancy. Additionally, always notify your Massage Therapist of what stage of pregnancy you are in. When calling to make the appointment, ask if there is someone with training in pregnancy Massage Therapy. Most massage therapy schools include this training, but licensing varies so much from state to state that it is worth asking. Also ask if they have the proper add-ons for the massage table so that your belly can be both accommodated and supported throughout the treatment. The gold standard for certification for Massage Therapists in the US is called "National Certification". You can find out more at their website: http://www.ncbtmb.com/ as well as locate providers in your area. Lastly, ask them if they are specifically insured as a provider of pregnancy massage. We stopped doing them recently, as the rates went astronomically high. I do not know if that is based on true risk or the insurance company's perception of risk. Kind of like the homeowner insurance going way up in coastal areas that "could" get hurricane damage. Anyway, you can benefit on many levels both physically and mentally from good massage therapy during appropriate intervals in your pregnancy. Good luck with the massages and with the baby!

If you have been getting regular massages prior to conception, you can continue with massage during the first trimester, but let your therapist know that you are pregnant. A massage doula might be a good way to go so that you can develop a rapport with her during sessions during your pregnancy and then have her present at your birth to continue the emotional and physical support.

By the way, physicians can't "mandate" whether women get massages while pregnant. It is entirely the woman's perogative, and the physician does not own her body or pregnancy. If you have any high risk factors, talk to your midwife or physician about whether massage would be beneficial or if it could pose any risk, and make your own decision.

No, you can only get pregnant if a guy pre-cums or cums inside of your vagina.
