Unfortunately, no you cannot get a yaris hatchback with side airbags in Canada. They are an option on the US cars but as of yet not available in Canada. It's kindo of hypocrital of Toyota to brag so much about their dedication to safety and yet they keep on pulling this stunt. Canada has always been a buyer of smaller cars and yet we get penalized for it for some reason. The previous generation Matrix and RAV4 were also never offered with side airbags in Canada. They were optional in the US cars. In 2009 they will be standard on the Yaris in the USA. I'm guessing they still won't be available in Canada. Hopefully I'll be wrong. I guess Canadian safety isn't a big issue for Toyota.
