Yes you can! All you have to do is when you click on island flyover, hold down the "2" button until the game begins. When the game starts, there will be no i points and there will be no time limit! LOL.

You actually do this on the Mii select screen, for anyone who is still trying to figure this out. The announcer should say "Okay".

It doesn't work. Only does the Ipoints and balloons will be gone. Did I do something wrong?

Yes it is. If you collected at least 70 or more I points you will unlock a new cheat if you hold 2 at the mii selection screen and then press A, and then let go of 2 at the warning screen there will be no ipoints, balloons, and no time limit.
